The lowest of them all

Times have indeed change. You can always rely on this universal fact. Can't do anything to stop it. Resist, and you're doomed. Go with it, and wait what happens.

This blatant reality has often been tossed in my face but all I do is stare at it. Like a deer transfixed by a pair of headlights, I can't seem to move at all. It's scary yet appealing both at the same time. To be in the spotlight, just I and my destiny ahead of me. Yet, I have never really grasp what is mine.

In the Alchemist, it was written that it is one's obligation to fulfill thy destiny (or something to that effect). What therefore must I do? What can be done to fufill one's destiny? Things were more simple back then. One can just pick up a sword, fight the dragon and save the world. Now it's different. You've got to prove your worth through other means. Concepts of honor, chivalry have been replaced by character and responsibility.

Maybe that's why I never tire of adventure-themed movies, books, tv series, cartoons, anime, etc. They speak of days when it was easy to find your place, to define who you are.

In a world dominated by Technology, shopping, and hedonism, I must be self-aware. whatever that means.

PS. There are no perfect days. Today, the world sucks. I must have hit rock bottom. The lowest of all lows.
In short, a lowlife. Tsk, tsk. How unfortunate.

Sikreto ng mga Gwapo

Want to know the secret sa pagiging pogi?

I found the secret to this long sought after dilemma from my 22-month old son! Tatlong beses na namin itong nawitness na ginawa niya.

Simple lang! Rub petroleum jelly on your body! Yes you heard it right!

Ang sikreto para maging kaaya aya ay maglagay ng unscented petroleum jelly sa katawan. Gawin itong nag-iisa at walang nakatingin sa iyo.

Trust me on this! Doctor-recommended-PJ on your legs, arms, and any part of your body that you can reach. At importanteng gawing mag-isa. kung hindi, di ito eepek!

Peks man!

A-Ok Addict!

Best damn night I've had in weeks.

Super high on Avatar. 5 episodes back to back. It was unfortunate that I was in a cafe so I had to
exercise restraint and s
elf control. (What pissed me off was that I lacked the needed plug in to enjoy it in my PC. Real shame!)

Go to www.avatarchapters.org to see the action.

Sugar High

It's official people!

I'm Melis and I'm an addict. and proud of it!

To what? To sweets! To anything yummy and full of sugary treats.

Mel's top 10 Fave sweets (in no particular order):

10. A must-have snack these days, the new Mister Donut Triple Chocolate Donut, Swiss Mocha flavor only please! I know all the flavors and the best is the one I recommend, Swiss Mocha. The other flavors are Chocolate cream and choco fudge. Choco fudge is sort of runny, the filling that is. I don't know which is which just by looking but I can surely distinguish the tastes. Oh, it's triple choco treat because the donut is choco flavored, then the choco filling and the choco sprinkles (these have melted by the time the donuts find their way into the shelves). P12 pesos each and the bestsellers are, of course, Swiss Mocha. When I buy by myself, this flavor is always available. But when I once dragged Ann to buy, all were sold out! Such bad luck to non-believers, I say! Always believe and trust in the G-Force, or at the very least, buy before break time.

9. Dark Chocolates, oh yes, turn to the dark side! Release your melanines and enjoy the rich, rich flavor of dark chocolates and when coupled with mint, oh la la! I break out in song, Heaven is a place on earth! But these dark mint chocolates are scarce here, to my disdain. Why oh why do they think that there is no market for this product here? Where are the deviled cookies? Bring out those heavenly goodies! Come to me, all of you! Your master commands you to come! Sacrifice yourselves for my gastronomic pleasure! And they all came and fell into the depths of my tummy. Yum- Yum. I and my poor imaginings! Where was I? Oh, the dark mint chocolates. When you're lucky, you can find Hershey's brand or if not, try the local Nestle Goya Dark Mint Chocolates. It's P28.00 (9 bite-sized pieces). It will do, it will do.

8. Goldilock's best food so far! Egg pie, not the whole pie but in slices! Only P22 pesos. This is not sold daily, only when the pie is sliced into itsy bitsy 8 pieces. (I guess this is when no one has bought the pie for the recommended display time.) No matter, I still have to buy even when I'm full because I simply must eat it .

7. Have u tried Swiss Deli's or Krua Thai's special iced tea? Everytime I order, I always get stares. I later found out the secret to it: It's lychee! Step 1: Using the Nestle Iced Tea bottle, pour contents of Nestea Iced Tea Powder 1 liter. Fill water up to the neck of the bottle and shake, shake, shake! Tip: Do the dance while at it. Step 2:Pour 1 can of lychee, fruits and syrup, into blender. Add iced tea (makes 2 batches). Blend for 10 seconds. Step 3: Put ice in your glass, pour iced tea and enjoy! Trick to make it taste better: Share it with someone nice while sitting quietly in the porch during late afternoon. Oh and the best thing about this, it costs only P47.00.

6.Red Ribbon Pork Empanada...a must try...You have to order before lunch because this is a best seller @ Chimes. Better yet, go to SM because they never run out. They'll offer you the chicken flavored ones, but it's not that 'masarap', not like the pork empanada nonetheless. Oh and if you're already at the Red Ribbon, try their Triple Choco Roll or the Choco Mousse Cake. Super delicious! If on a tight budget or a diet, sample the delicious value meals served with the cake of the day. Yum! (rubbing tummy)

5. Looking for a quick fix for whatever's bringing you down? You'll never go wrong with Magnolia King's sundae. It's not rock hard like ice cream but soft, creamy goodness. The plus side? All the gooeey, syrupy chocolate fudge that runs from the top and pools down at the bottom. It's a balm that soothes all kinds of ache. for a while. Satisfaction Guaranteed!

4. Going to the movies?! Popcorn is the perfect companion! Not burgers, not chips but POPCORN. Munching your way into butter-flavored MICROWAVEABLE popcorn until you've reached the bottom of the pack, finding out it's not enough so you lick your fingers to savor that last bit of flavor is the perfect snack. And the best part, you can always eat it even when there's no blockbuster movie to watch! See why it's pefect. Oh C'mon!

3. You want what? To eat right? Is that guilt-free snack I'm hearing?! I can do that too! Top of the list is Nestle Yogurt Heavenly Mango. For diet freaks (no offense), just buy the single serve yogurt for only P25.00. If you're into nirvana and all that gastronomic delights, go for the big size! It's cheaper @ P100.00. You certainly won't ask for antyhing else afterwards. And you'll feed good too. It's zero fat. There!

2. Oh, are we raving about fast food now? Hands down, space cheeseburger is the clear winner! Plus order the one with the mushroom. and the cheese, what can I tell you, It's scrumptuous. It's available almost anywhere since they've got many outlets now. I like that it started here in Davao City. Makes me feel like I'm contributing to local business or something when I'm barfing MOON (that's a cheeseburger with homemade fries and iced tea). but of course, I could be wrong and it's just gas I'm feeling. Oopps, sorry. my bad.

1. The last is a toss up between Greenwich Macaroni Salad Plus and Ate wheng's Buco Pandan with Nata. Chowking Halo Halo is a runner up here. Applause for the non-winner please! I never liked Buco Pandan because Ifeel it doesn't compare with the fruit salad. It's just buco and syrup because pandan is not a fruit in the first place! It's a plant! and i don't eat plants for dessert! But Ate wheng added nata de coco to her recipe plus green-colored, pandan-flavored jelly! the result! Super duper cool dessert. I had many helpings. I even dig in her fridge because the others cleaned out the dessert bowl. I have yet to duplicate the recipe but i feel I won't do it much justice at all. So Ate wheng, you owe me another batch! Okay, what about the halo halo? I liked it better when I order this to go. It's placed in a glass-shaped container, not in a bowl, and it's got like a hundred ingredients in the tall cup. Loathe the ice cream though, just don't like nestle ice cream. and the macaroni salad plus? It's the closest to vegetable salad that I could eat (except when there's vinaigrette dressing around). there's pasta so It's filling. The downside, greenwich is inconsistent with the serving qty and the price? hmmm, it skyrocketed, okay it's a few pesos, but hey, there's a crisis people. so many food to eat, not enough money to try it all. so I'm saving up.

So, after more than four weeks of editing and typing, I can finally release this article. Here goes! You better not be hungry when you're reading this, or you're toast! Oh about the pix. I liked it.

Rite of Initiation

Ang hirap magsimula, ang hirap manguna, ang hirap mag initiate.
kaya siguro merong new beginnings and maybe that's why
there's such a big deal about starting over.

because it's never easy.

even in smaller ways, like being the first to introduce yourself to the group,
being the first to approach somebody else, to be the first to apologize,
maunang mamansin after a long deadmahan period, atbp.

for as long as i recall, I've never been comfortable with this. meron pa naman

akong long-time theory na when life sets out to teach you something, it won't stop
throwing you the same thing over and over until you've learn. period. kaya naman
until now, I still am in this boat, over and over.

paano ba naman, feeling ko kasi parati na lang ako. di ba pwedeng ang iba naman?
pero oo nga naman, kelan ba itong naging counting contest? the one with the most
number wins the ultimate prize, which is? ay ewan.

naiisip ko dapat ako ang winner pero ang hirap parating mauna. except sa tsismis.
it does not pay na mahuli.

does it have anything to do with expectations? therefore, pride c
omes to the picture?

Posible. so paano ba dapat? think nothing of it? but it doesn't come naturally or kahit second nature nga eh, wala. or does previous experiences lalo na childhood ones have any effect? kung di sanay dahil di ginagawa before, sanayan ba ang solution?

so proven true na naman na anything you learned can be unlearn.

sobrang pag iisip? eto na naman ang problema, pag seryosohan na, i tend to think i'm taking myself seriously kahit di gud.

i think, it's calvin and hobbes' time once more.

Mama

sobrang saya maging mommi.
sobrang to the highest level ang
happiness pag tinatawag kang mama,
mama..hayyy..makakalimutan mo ang
mga pagsusungit nila, ang mga
tantrums na di maintindihan
paglalapit sa iyo at bigla
kang yayakapin ng mahigpit at
bibigyan ng super tamis na halik
sabay bigkas, mama...

Query

as good as it gets?
or
the best is yet to come?

How long do you want to be loved?

"Lullaby"

They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
